 Goth
Mom Baby Shower ideas:
Remember, a Goth Mom
loves being pregnant, and is just as excited about
being a new Mom as anyone else!
She will appreciate
a baby shower that has a few things she likes,
however, don't go over the top, it will look too
obvious. Just give her a baby shower with a few
little extras, as mentioned here.
Gifts: We have
awesome gifts here for a goth Mom. Just take a look
at our Diaper Bags, or try the
Jewelry, where we have an
adorable Black Pearl Baby Set made of
genuine pearls and sterling silver.
Invitations:
A very cool invite might look like this:
Buy Baby Diaper Safety Pins, if possible. Otherwise,
regular large safety pins will do. 2. Get black
construction paper and spatter it will some crimson
or red paint drops. Let Dry. 3. Rip the construction
paper into 4 or so pieces, and insert a safety pin
onto each one. 4. Use your computer to get a
cool gothic font, and print out the actual details
of the invite in a Crimson or burgundy color print.
5. Paste the details on the black
construction paper safety pin project.
Very cool invites!
Party favors:
There are numerous things that you could purchase
for a party favor for a Gothic theme. How
about a couple packs of cloth diapers (depending on
how many guests you are having, after the
RSVP) lay out small items that you would use at any
baby shower. You will then of course wrap them up as if
in a diaper, and secure with the giant safety pins,
and decorate with a beautiful black, crimson, or
dark purple ribbon.
Centerpiece:
This of course will require that you be set at a
table somewhere. A beautiful way of creating a
one-of a kind centerpiece is to do a flower
arrangement. Most retailers will sell black, and
crimson roses. You can also throw in a pop of color
, such as with white daisies, or lavender roses.
Another way to add a little sparkle to your
centerpiece, is to dust it with glitter dust, along
with adding baby-related charms to your rosebuds by
tying them with a ribbon.
Food:
Don't do anything obvious or different here, just
her favorite food of course! For the cake, try
a beautiful deep crimson frosting, or even red cake!. It will be so
pretty, and different, that it will be "enough".
The whole object here is to give her a shower that
is respectful of her sub-culture, and make her feel
special. Don't overdo things, and make her or the
non-Goth guests feel uncomfortable.
What is Goth ?
| |
The
first use of the term Goth in its present
meaning is believed to have been on a
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) TV
program. Anthony H. Wilson, manager of
Joy Division described the band as
Gothic compared with the pop mainstream. The
name stuck. |
| |
Their
use of black clothing was originally "something
of a backlash to the colorful disco music of
the seventies."
It also stuck. |
| |
The movement first became established in the
Batcave, a nightclub in London,
England, in the early 1980's.

Spreading to the U.S., it first became
popular in California. |
| |
Goth is
featured in The Crow horror movies
(1994, 1996). Other Gothic movies are
the original Nosferatu, the color
remake Nosferatu the Vampyre, and
the Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. |

Popular
music bands are the Bauhaus, Siouxsie
and the Banshees, the Sisters of Mercy,
Dead Can Dance, and many others.
Goth,
as a modern movement, started as one
component of the punk rock scene. As the
latter faded, Goth survived by creating its
own subculture.
Goths often wear Christian
crosses or Christian crucifixes, which many
regard as a pre-Christian religious symbol.
Others wear New Age/ancient Egyptian Ankh
symbols. Some do this as expression of their
religious beliefs, some for satire, and
others because they like their appearance.
Religion is frequently
discussed on the Goth newsgroups. Many
songs, band names and album titles have
Christian themes
